  • 1559 Act of Supremacy - Papal Supremacy rejected. Elizabeth declared 'Supreme Governor of the Church of England.'
    Oath of loyalty imposed - all Bishops except 1 refused, 300 lower clergy refused.
    Heresy laws repealed and both forms of Communion permitted.
  • 1559 Act of Uniformity - Slightly modified 1552 Book of Common Prayer imposed.
    Recusants (non-attendants of Church) made to pay 12d (1 shilling) fine - purposefully lenient.
    Ornaments and Vestments to be worn as in 1549 (led to Vestarian Crisis 1566)
    Bishops had to be excluded from Lords to pass act, also set out 1559 prayer book which amalgamated 1549 and 1552.
  • 1559 Act of Exchange allowed Elizabeth the right to take Bishop's former property. Used as a threat.
  • 1559 Royal Injunctions: 57 extra instructions, including:
    English Bibles in every church
    Wafer instead of communion bread
    Pilgrimages outlawed
