Gated lanes aren’t the same as gated communities.
A gated lame scheme in Preston gave residents a feeling they can reclaim their streets. Some residents suggested it reduces crime and prevented rubbish from being dumped in the back lanes. Others suggested that 14,000 for one gate at either end of an alley was too costly to justify.
