• literal: the creation story happened exactly as it is described in the bible
• linguistic: there may be misunderstandings in the language
• mythical: it is a myth, the bible explains that god made the world and why but it doesnt fully explain how
• scientific: science can work in conjunction with the Christian creation story in Genesis
