Types of energy

• Chemical energy- Fuels, food, batteries

  e.g. coal burning, eating
• Electrical energy - Light bulbs, electric cars
• Nuclear energy - Nuclear power stations, when nuclei inside atoms join or seperate
• Elastic potential energy is when objects are stretched or compressed/squashed
• Kinetic energy is when objects move

  e.g. pulling a door handle
• GPE (Gravitational Potential energy) is objects that are above the ground

  e.g. a plane flying overhead
• Thermal energy is the energy that happens due to temperature

  e.g. food baking in an oven
• Magnetic energy is magnets making energy

  e.g. loudspeakers
• Electrostatic energy is energy that occurs due to electric charges repelling or attracting

  e.g. lightning
• Sound energy is sound waves travelling through air, water or solids
