Right to life, Right to a fair trial, freedom of speech
Why Christians support rights?
Agree with the right to religious freedom
Everyone is made in God's image and should be treated with respect.
Think that having rights is a was of "love thy neighbour as you love yourself"
Why non-religious people support rights?
Believe everyone should be treated with respect.
Gives certain people legal protection.
Some governments (without rights) could abuse their power.
What are the consequences of not having rights or your rights being taken away?
People would not have the right to free speech.
Lose the right to a fair trial.
Governments might start torturing people
Why may some people think some rights should be limited?
If it encourages violence of racism.
If freedom of assembly results in rioting.
If right to life stops security forces killing terrorists that are attacking people.

What can the U.N. do to end war/conflict?
Impose sanctions on the country causing conflict
Authorise a member of state to use force
Can send peace keeping forces into a conflict zone
Features of Just war theory
War should just be a last resort
Civilians should not be targeted
Revenge should not be taken on the losing side.
Why some Christians support war
Might think the war is just and fair.
Jesus' teachings seem to support war is some circumstances.
War might b the only way to bring about peace.

The universe was made in 7 days, as described in genesis (christianity)

God gave Adam and Eve the responsibility to look after the world and be stewards of God's creation.
Believe they will be judged by God on how they have cared for the world.
St. Francis of Assisi said humans should care for animals like they are our brothers and sisters.

Benefits of living in a multi-faith society
Different religions can learn from each other, promote tolerance and community cohesion, worship together
Issues caused by living in a multi-faith society
Tension between different religious groups, issues with inter-faith marriages, different religions might try and convert members of other faiths to their religion
Attitudes to other religions in Christianity
All other religions are untrue (exclusivism), Christianity is completly true but other religions have element of truth in them (inclusivism), all religions are a valid path to God (pluralism)
Attitudes to convert other people to Christianity (Evangelisation) 
Jesus taught that Christians have a duty to try and convert people
No point as all religions are valid paths to God
non-Christians will go to Hell so this is essential
Attitudes to ecumenism in Christianity 
Good for different denominations to work together, might be able to learn from each other, against becuase they think the other church/denomination is wrong
attitudes to inter-faith relationships in Christianity
good thing as it creates tolerance in society, pluralists (believe all religions are true) so it is right to develop relationships with other faiths, disagree as they think all other faiths are wrong
Benefits of living in a multi-ethnic society
encourages community cohesion, learn from each other, encourages tolerance
Issues caused by living in a multi-ethnic society
discrimination so people of different cultures may be treated equally, racist people might treat other races badly, community tension
