Stewardship + Environment

• Humanists have similar views to Catholics on the environment and the future of the planet.
• Most humanists agree with the idea of stewardship and see the works as beautiful and valuable.
• Humanists believe more should me done to preserve habitats and species to avoid losing them and damaging earth further.
• Different to Catholics as humanists seek to live a good life as believe this is the only one we have (don’t believe in afterlife).
• Humanist see population growth and overcrowfing of planet as a threat to life on earth as it increases demand for food, water, shelter, fuel. Therefore, believe we should reuse, recycle
• Humanists believe demand for Earth’s resources is unsustainable, increases tension and can lead to war, threatening happiness and safety of humans.
• Humanist support introduction of birth control (contraception) programmes, limiting population growth.
