    • Ecology is the scientific study of interactions among organisms and between organism and their environment
    • Scientists can study biology on many levels: Levels of Organization of Life - there are seven different levels
  • Levels of Organization of Life
    1. Biosphere - the part of the earth that contains ALL ecosystems
    2. Ecosystem - community and the non-living surroundings
    3. Community - all the living things (populations) in an ecosystem
    4. Species/Population - group of similar organisms that can breed and make fertile offspring
    5. Organism - individual living thing
    6. Cells & Tissues & Organs - individual cells that are the same make up tissues (like muscle tissue) and several tissues make up organs!
    7. Molecules - DNA, carbs, proteins, fats -> molecules of life!
