    This is striking because her "careless" nature was shown when she didn't even have the decency to give him a sign that she still loved him and wanted to be with him.

    Daisy had no intention of returning to Gatsby, and her turning out the light symbolises his return to loneliness . Gatsby thinks he can overcome the barrier between the two classes, when in reality, he will never be accepted.

    Moreover, during the copious amounts of party's he threw in effort to gain Daisys attention, he was constantly an outsider and watched over the gatherings but never took part. He never lives in the moment and instead longs to repeat the past.
