  • Some common characteristics include; all form a net-like structure on food source, obtain energy by decomposing organic material externally, they are absorptive heterotrophs
  • Acellular Slime Molds: form plasmodium, essentially combine to form one big cell, moves using amoeboid movement, use a meter in diameter, form reproductive structures when surroundings dry up, spores dispersed and grow
  • Cellular Slime Molds: exist as individual amoebic cells, when food becomes scarce they come together but still as individuals
  • Water Molds and Downy Mildews: mostly live in environments with moist or water, feed on the dead, some are fuzzy white growths
