  • Alliteration
    • Refers to repetition of the same initial letter sounds in a line or words.
  • Assonance
    • Repetition of internal vowel sound in words that do not end the same.
  • Onomatopoeia
    • Makes the sound they are describing or a word that imitates the sound it represents.
  • Metonymy
    • One object or idea takes the place of another with which it had a close association.
  • Synecdoche
    • Refers to a part of something that is used to represent the whole or vice versa.
  • Soliloquy
    • Refers to a lengthy speech given to oneself when alone.
  • Monologue
    • Can be directed to another person or an audience, where the audience is aware.
