  • Why is the incarnation important to Christians?
    • It allows them to have a closer relationship with God
    • It demonstrates God's love for mankind (omnibenevolence) as He would send His only son to be killed for our sins
    • Jesus could understand humanities suffering in a human form and so Christians feel God truly understands when they are in pain

    • An action that breaks God's law
    • Can be original sin (inherited from Adam and Eve) or personal sin (consequence of a person's actions)

  • Role of Jesus in Salvation
    When Jesus died on the cross, his death paid for human sins and gave people the chance of salvation. When people believe in Jesus they believe that they receive God's grace, which helps them to lead a good Christian life.

    Because of salvation Jesus has allowed us to have a relationship with God. We can ask for forgiveness and pray to God.

    • They believe Jesus' death allows humans to have eternal life

  • Christian beliefs about life after death are based on the resurrection of Jesus Christ

    • All Christians believe life is not all there is. They believe that God will reward the good and punish the bad in some form of life after death.
    • Some Christians believe that this judgement will happen when they die. Others believe that there will be a Day of Judgement at the end of time, when everybody will be judged at the same time.

    A place of peace and reward where people go when they accept Jesus as their salvation and ask for forgiveness for their sins

    A place of eternal fire symbolising pain and suffering, where people go when they reject God
  • Why do Christians believe in Life After Death?

    • Eternal life - Jesus promised that his followers would have eternal life
    • Immortality of the soul - Jesus told a criminal crucified with him that he would go straight to paradise
    • Jesus' life as an example - God sent Jesus to Earth in order that humans could overcome death and have eternal life
