Chemical Reaction

Cards (11)

  • Chemical Reaction - is a process in which properties of the original subtances change into new subtances with different physical and chemical properties
  • Examples of chemical reaction:
    • Fireworks
    • Posporo
    • Process on stomac
  • EVIDENCES:
    1. Change of color
    2. Formation of gas
    3. Temperature change
    4. Change in smell
    5. Formation of precipitate
  • Reactant - enter a chemical reaction
  • Product - produce in a chemical reaction
  • Law conservition of mass - the total mass of the reactants must be equal to the total mass of the products
  • Chemical equation is written as A + BC + D
  • Combination Reaction - occurs when two or more subtances (reactants) combined to form a compound (products)
    • GENERAL FORMULA: A + B -> AB
  • Decomposition reaction - occurs when a single compounds breaks down into two or more simpler products
    • GENERAL FORMULA: AB -> A + B
  • Single displacement - one elements replace another element in a compound
    • GENERAL FORMULA: AB + X -> AX + B
  • Double displacement - this involes exchanging of ions to form new compounds
    • GENERAL FORMULA: AB + XY -> AX + BY
