Cards (6)

  • Aim
To measure the difference in levels of obedience between males and females
  • Participants:
    • 8 males aged(mean age = 27
    • 5 females aged (mean age = 37)
    • Opportunity sampling
  • Procedure:
The participants completed the questionnaire in their own time in a quiet area and handed it back to the researcher. They were given a full and thorough debrief beforehand where it was explained what the questionnaire entailed.
  • Questionnaire containing 6 closed questions and 4 open questions regarding self-perceived obedience questions. It also included distractor questions to prevent participants from guessing the aims. We added up the scoring for some of the questions and used Likert scales and yes/ no answers in our closed questions.
  • Conclusion
Results show that there is no significant difference in obedience between males and females.
    • G low- small opportunity sample- doesn’t reflect whole pop
    • R high test retest closed Q’s and same Q’s for all participant’s - replicable
    • R - High inter-rater- agreement between coders/ on themes - reduces bias/subjectivity
    • V – low - limited Q’s not from an expert source - may not truly reflect someone’s attitude towards obedience
