Refrigeration (AUXM)

Cards (33)

    1. COMPRESSOR - is the heart of the refrigeration system. It is used to moves the refrigerant throughout the system by the process of compression.
  • 2. CONDENSER - receives the high-pressure and high-temperature refrigerant vapor from the compressor and immediately begins to remove heat from the refrigerant vapor. As the refrigerant vapor makes its way through the condenser coil more and more heat is removed and the refrigerant vapor changes state from a refrigerant vapor to a refrigerant liquid.
  • 3. CAPILLARY TUBE - regulates the flow of the refrigerant by the process of expansion. Friction and evaporation of the refrigerant that takes place within the tube are responsible for the pressure drop created across the capillary tube.
  • 4. EVAPORATOR - it is here that the liquid refrigerant is expanded and evaporated. It acts as a heat exchanger that transfers heat from the substance being cooled to a boiling temperature.
  • 5. CONTROL PANEL - is the brain of refrigeration system. Contains alarms, microcomputers, switches, indicators, relays and thermocontrollers.
  • 6. SUCTION VALVE - valve that controls the amount of refrigerant going to the compressor.
  • 7. ACCUMULATOR - is a small tank accessory; that is, a safety device. designed to prevent liquid refrigerant from flowing into the suction line and into the compressor.
  • 8. COMPOUND GAUGE - this gauge measures the amount of both negative and positive pressure of the refrigerant.
  • 9. PRESSURE GAUGE - this gauge measures the amount of positive pressure of the refrigerant.
  • 10. PRESSURE LIMIT SWITCH - protects the compressor from over and under pressures. This automatically cuts-off power to compressor.
  • 11. DISCHARGE VALVE - this valve controls the amount of refrigerant discharged from the compressor.
  • 12. OIL SEPARATOR - this ensures the separation of the oil contained in the refrigerant. The oil collected in the separator, gets back to the crankcase of the compressor.
  • 13. PURGING VALVE - this valve is used to release air contaminants from refrigerant.
  • 14. CONDENSER SIGHT GLASS - used to see the level and condition of refrigerant in the condenser.
  • 15. LIQUID RECEIVER DELIVERY VALVE or KING VALVE - allows to pump down the system by closing it and running the compressor until all, or mast refrigerant is pumped out of the low side of the system and into the condenser and liquid receiver.
  • 16. LIQUID REFRIGERANT CHARGING VALVE - used for charging or adding refrigerants to the system.
  • 17. DRIER/FILTER - used to absorb system contaminants, such as water, which can create acids and also provide filtration.
  • 18. BYPASS VALVE - if drier/filter need to be serviced, refrigerants are diverted to this valve without stopping the operation.
  • 19. SOLENOID VALVE - is an electro-mechanical valve that open and close as it receives signal from the thermal switch.
  • 20. EVAPORATOR THERMOCONTROLLER - also a thermal switch used to regulate the temperature inside the cold room. Set point is programmed and this control both solenoid valve and compressor.
  • 21. SENSING BULBS - are thermistors that changes its resistance depending on temperature and connected to a thermocontroller. They monitor the temperature of the evaporator, condenser, suction and discharge line.
  • 22. DEFROST HEATING ELEMENT - used to melt ice build-up inside the evaporator by heating at preset cycles.
  • 23. DEFROST TIMER - control the on and off cycle of the defrost heating element and defrost solenoid valve.
  • 24. REFRIGERANT DEFROST VALVE - used to divert the refrigerant directly to the liquid receiver by-passing the compressor.
  • 25. LUBE OIL CHARGING VALVE - valve used for charging or adding lube oil in the compressor.
  • 26. COMPRESSOR SIGHT GLASS - used to see the level of lubricating oil inside the compressor.
  • 27. LUBE OIL, DRAIN NON RETURN VALVE - oil from the separator pass through this valve in one direction back to the compressor to lubricate the crankshaft and piston.
  • 29. LIQUID RECEIVER - is a storage tank for holding liquid refrigerant.
  • 28. AIR COOLING FAN - air is forced through the condenser fins to cool down the refrigerant.
  • 30. SUCTION THERMOCONTROLLER - used to monitor the temperature of the suction side.
  • 31. DISCHARGE THERMOCONTROLLER - used to monitor the temperature of the refrigerant at the discharge side of the compressor. Alarm is activated when temperature reached set point
  • 32. CONDENSER THERMOCONTROLLER - used to monitor the temperature of the refrigerant at the condenser. Cooling fans are activated when temperature reached the set point.
  • 33. MAN IN COLD ROOM EMERGENCY BUTTON - in case a person is trapped in cold room this activates the alarm can only be reset locally.
