Kinetic Molecular Theory

Cards (4)

  • Gases are composed of minute particles called molecule, which are in constant state of rapid motion. These molecules possess negligible mass.
  • These molecules move about at high speeds traveling in straight path but in random directions. They are colliding against one another and against the walls of the container without loss of momentum or energy because they are perfectly elastic.
  • There is a neither attractive nor repulsive force between or among gas molecules.
  • The velocity of the molecules changes with temperature, increasing at high temperature.
