  • A phobia is a type of anxiety disorder where an individual has an overwhelming, irrational and debilitating fear of a place, animal, object, situation or feeling. People may have no experience with a phobia until they come in contact with the phobic stimulus. They may also experience anticipatory anxiety, where even thinking about it makes them anxious.
