  • Introduce 1 kind of food at a time and continue with it for 3 to 4 days.
  • Start with 1 teaspoon of food.
  • Use thin puree when starting solid foods.
  • Don't force baby to eat.
  • If baby doesn't eat the food, stop feeding for 1 week or 2, then try again. If baby doesn't eat again, stop completely and try another food similar.
  • If baby doesn't eat a food, mix it with another food it likes until it gets used to the taste.
  • Don't add salt to baby food until 1 year since kidneys can't handle sodium efficiently.
  • Baby food can be seasoned.
  • When baby can chew, switch to chopped vegetables, fruits, fish, and meat.
  • Provide balanced food with enough variety.
