Belief that all war and violent acts are wrong - reject all violence = pacifists
Conflict doesn’t need to be dealt with resorting to war, instead there are other peaceful methods, like negotiation.
Jesus’ commandments in the Gospel of Matthew: ”Blessed are the peacemakers” - “ Turn the other cheek.“
Jesus is an example for pacifists as he didn’t fight back when he was arrested by the guards, instead he command the disciples follow.
Ten Commandments justify pacifism - In Exodus, go says “Do not kill”
Christian denominators teach their members how that pacifism is the only acceptable response to violence.
Quakers are an example of a Christian group who are pacifists and they believe that all people are created as equal and being respectful to each other - should be inspired by God’s love he has given and look to New Testament for guidance.
Believe life is precious so they try to show ways to work to bring peace - work for peace, attempting to bring together communities in areas of conflict.
They become conscientious objectors and believe in negotiation and reconciliation.
All people are created by God as equals and should show their equality by respecting each other.
Each person has something of God within them and their actions should be motivated by God given love.
