The Collision Theory 2.0

Cards (4)

  • Collision theory explains how the collision between reactant molecules may or may not result in a successful chemical reaction.
  • The colliding molecules should possess a minimum of kinetic energy, known as activation energy, to start a chemical reaction.
  • Activation energy is needed to break the bond between reactant molecules to form new bonds leading to formation of the products.
  • The reactant molecules should be in the correct orientation when they collide.
