  • scene 1 -  We meet Stella, Stanley and Blanche
    • Description of Elysian Fields
    • Blanche lies about her drinking, after already having drunk
    • Blanche says that she has lost Belle Reve
    • Stanley comes in and takes off his shirt
  • scene 2 - Stanley goes through Blanche's things
    • Stella is taking Blanche out during the poker night
    • Blanche is having a bath for her nerves
    • Stanley goes through Blanche's things, claiming he knows their cost.
    • Blanche says she will burn the love letters now Stanley has touched them
    • We learn that Stella is pregnant.
  • Scene 3 - The poker night
    • We are introduced to the poker night through the bold colours of the men
    • Stella and Blanche discuss Mitch
    • Stella describes that Stanley will succeed because of his drive to succeed.
    • Mitch and Blanche talk awkwardly
    • Stanley throws the radio out the window
    • Stella calls him an animal and Stanley hits her
    • Stanley calls out 'STELLAAAAAA'
  • Scene 4 - Stanley overhears Blanche's speech about him
    • Stella explains the importance of desire in her's and Stanley's relationship
    • Blanche launches into talking about Shep Huntleigh
    • Blanche calls Stanley rude names eg. common and Stanley overhears
    • Stanley embraces Stella and grins at Blanche
  • Scene 5 - Shimmer and glow/paper boy
    • Eunice and Steve are fighting
    • Stanley asks Blanche about Laurel and The Flamingo. Blanche acts like she knows nothing
    • Shimmer and Glow speech
    • A young man comes to the door and Blanche accosts him
    • Mitch then arrives right after the young man leaves.
  • Scene 6 - Allan Grey
    • Blanche and Mitch return from an awful date.
    • Mitch talks about his physique, his sweating and Blanche's weight.
    • Blanche then tells us about Allan Grey and his homosexuality,
    • Blanche and Mitch embrace, and the audience has hope for them.
  • Scene 7 - Stanley tells Stella about Blanche's past
    • Blanche is in a bath, while Stella sets up for her birthday
    • Stanley tells Stella about Blanche's past.
    • Blanche was evicted from Laurel for an affair with a student.
    • He tells Stella that he is going to tell Mitch about her past.
  • scene 8 - bus ticket
    • Mitch doesn't show up to Blanches birthday party.
    • Stella calls Stanley a pig and he gets triggered.
    • Stanley calms down but is then triggered again when Blanche calls him a Polack
    • Stanley gives Blanche the bus ticket back to Laurel
    • Stella goes into labour
  • Scene 9 - Mitch assault scene
    • Mitch arrives when Blanche is alone and drunk
    • Mitch asks Blanche if she is boxed out of her mind.
    • Blanche tells Mitch about the events in Laurel
    • Mitch tries to rape Blanche and she calls Fire! out the window.
  • scene 10 - rape scene
    • Blanche is now even more drunk and more alone.
    • Blanche tells Stanley about Shep Hunteigh and he plays with her
    • She tells Stanley that Mitch came back to her.
    • Stanley traps Blanche in the room but tells her she has plenty of room to walk by
    • He then traps her and carries off her limp body
    • The expressionistic effects are especially intense at the dramatic peak of this scene
  • scene 11 - blanche is escorted away
    • The women are packing a suitcase for Blanche and the men are playing poker
    • She is still obsessed with her fantasy of Shep Huntleigh and asks if any calls have come for her
    • Blanche runs away from the doctor
    • The doctor addresses Blanche respectfully and Blanche stops struggling - the kindness of strangers
    • Stella watches Blanche drive away, Stanley tries to comfort her and the other men sit down for another game of poker.
