  • Act 1- my grave is like to be my wedding bed
'grave' -noun, image of Juliet dying,
foreshadows that her love for Romeo will
kill her, even though in this scene she
believes she will be killed for meeting the
enemy household, as well links to her not
wanting to marry Paris, in how she will die
to prevent herself from having to be with
    Paris.
'wedding' -noun, links to how Juliet has
switched her opinions on love and
marriage in only a few hours, exaggerates
the instant change in her feelings as soon
as she has met Romeo due to their instant
    connection and how it's fate

dramatic irony- prologue saying they're star crossed lovers, Juliet is unaware of her fate as her impulsive nature becomes her HERMATIA as she fails to grasp the true consequences of pursuing forbidden love

be perfect and compatible for each other
'tyrant' - shows the unjust use of power
