  • Relation is a rule that relates values from a set of values (domain) to a second set of values (range)
  • Relation - a pairing of two quantities as ordered pairs (x,y)
  • X - input, independent variable, domain, abscissa
  • Y - output, dependent variable, range, ordinate
  • Type of relation
    1. One-to-one
    2. One-to-many
    3. Many-to-one
    4. Many-to-many
  • Function - is a relation where each element in the domain is related to only one value in the range.
  • Function Notation - Often in practical applications, the value of one quantity depends on the value of another.
