Yalta Feb 1945

• Agreement 1 - Japan - Stalin agreed to enter the war against Japan once germany had surrendered
• Agreement 2 - Germany - USA and USSR agreed germany will be split into four zones( american, french, british and soviet)
• Agreement 3 - elections - Both sides agreed that once countries were liberated from the germans, they are allowed to have free elections to choose the government they wanted
• agreement 4 - United Nations - The Big Three agreed to join the new United Nations organisation, which aimed to keep the peace after the war
• Agreement 5 - War criminals - After Nazi concentration camps were revealed, Big Three agreed to hunt down and punish Nazis responsible for war crimes
• Agreement 6 - Eastern Europe - Big Three agreed Eastern Europe should be seen as 'soviet sphere of influence'
• Disagreement - Poland -

  1. Stalin wanted USSR border to move into Poland and Polands border to push west into Germany
  2. Churchill didnt approve of Stalin's plans but knew the Red Army had control of Eastern Europe
  3. Rooselvelt was unhappy also but Churchill told him to accept it, as long as Stalin agreed to leave Greece alone where Britain were preventing communists from taking over(Stalin Agreed)
