Secular death rites

• The mourners will often listen or join in with the favourite music of the deceased
• Close friend or relative will usually share important event from the life of The death person
• People dont believe w strong element of religion is desirable
• There’s no set plan ,each funeral can differ :

  • opening music
  • welcome mourners
  • reflection on life and death - non religious view
  • tribute outlining the personality and life of the death
  • readings - usually non religious poetry or text
  • committal - curtains are closed ln the coffin/ casket when lowered into the ground
  • final words - thanking mourners on behalf of death
  • closing music (non- religious)
