• Test for sugar

  Use benedict's solution (must heat up for reaction to work)

  Colour change from blue to brick red

  Low sugar - green/yellow

  High sugar - orange/brick-red
• Test for starch

  Use iodine solution

  Colour change from Yellow to blue/black
• Test for protein

  Use biuret reagent

  Colour change from blue to lilac
• Test for lipids

  Use Ethanol

  Change from no emulsion to a white emulsion layer
