this was vetoed by cleveland, however this was overriden by congress as the drought had effected most of the texan crops (the bill appropriated $10,000 for seeds)
cleveland mediated conflict between germany and somoa after;
germany had tried to impliment a puppet monachy in somoa - US combatted this with 3 warships - this led to a treaty between somoa and US which allowed for a naval base on the island.
in 1884, cleveland's wife died giving birth to their son - this left him devastated and depressed.
