  • belief on role of jesus in salvation
Jesus’ death makes up for the original sin committed by Adam and Eve and so can bring people back to God. The crucifixion was the result of human evil set against an innocent man. Jesus’ death was necessary to restore the relationship between God and humanity.
Jesus’ resurrection shows Christians that death has been defeated and that the goodness of Jesus had defeated the evil of sin. Christians believe that through Jesus’ death and resurrection, humans can receive forgiveness for sin, are able to get close to God and will receive eternal life.
  • Christian beliefs about atonement
Atonement removes the effects of sin and allows people to restore their relationship with God. This is only possible because Jesus atoned for the sins of mankind when he died and rose again.
Jesus made salvation possible because God will now forgive anybody who asks in faith, Christians believe that this is why God came to earth in the form of Jesus and it demonstrates the importance of following his teachings.
  • impact on gods reconciliation
Some Christians see that they may have to follow Jesus even to death. Just as Jesus surrendered himself to God’s will, so Christians should offer themselves to the service of God, trying to carry out his wishes to the best of their ability.
For most, death is not required, they can show their beliefs by other examples. For example, they might give time to do pastoral work with older members of the congregation. In doing so, they are following Jesus’ example and showing love for others.
  • The Bible says “God loved the world he gave his Son, those who believe in him will have eternal life.” This affirms the Christian belief that Christ is the route to salvation and God planned this.
