  • Intentional Injuries

    • Include self-inflicted and interpersonal acts of violence intended to cause harm. The term "intentional" is used to refer to injuries resulting from purposeful human action, whether directed at oneself or others
  • Unintentional Injury

    Refers to injuries that are unplanned and typically preventable when proper safety precautions are followed
  • Parasuicide
    • Risky behaviors such as speeding or disregarding traffic laws, or abusing drugs, when the person shows total disregard for whether the actions might result in his or her death. A supposed suicide attempt that was not intended to succeed.
  • Suicide - The act of intentionally killing oneself, usually by taking one's own life.
  • SELF-INFLICTED –Suicide -Parasuicide
  • ASSAULT -physical attack -when a person harm another on purpose
  • Domestic Violence - pattern of abusive and intimidating behavior used by one person to control the other. the domestic setting is at home.
  • Bullying - undesired aggressive behavior involving a real or perceived superiority over others.
  • Types of bullying - verbal, social, physical, cyber.
  • Verbal Bullying - using words to hurt someone else.
  • Social Bullying - excluding people from groups, spreading rumors about them, embarrassing them in public.
  • Physical Bullying - hitting, kicking, pushing, spitting, tripping, pinching, etc.
  • Cyber bullying - use of electronic device to bully someone.
  • Gang and Youth Violence - Gang members mostly involved in serious youth violence like extortion, theft, and robbery, and in selling drugs causing injuries to their victims.
  • Illegal fraternity - a group with common purpose or interest. it includes hazing.
  • Sexual abuse - an unwanted non-consensual sexual activity where the abuser intentionally uses force, threats, and takes advantage of the victim.
  • Forms of sexual abuse - Molestation, rape, and incest.
  • Molestation - sexual abuse of an adult to a person, for sexual pleasure or profit.
  • Rape - sexual penetration without consent or when the victim is not capable of giving consent.
  • Incest - sexual relation between close relatives.
  • Kidnapping - The act of taking a person against their will, usually for ransom.
  • Abduction - when deceit or force is used in order to take someone from their home or relatives.
  • Acts of Terror - a terrorist attack is an act of violence intended to intimidate or coerce a population into submission
