  • Prescription requirements for Dangerous Drugs (DD) or Controlled Precursors and Essential Chemicals (CP,EC)
    1. Signed and dated
    2. Only one DD/CP,EC
    3. Issued in triplicate copies with specific direction of use
    4. S-2 License number and validity of license, and PTR
    5. "No refill" - inscription on the face of the Rx
    6. "USED IN FULL" to be stamped (In cases it is filled up)
    7. "USED FOR (dosage/units) ONLY" if not fully dispensed
    8. Balance should be indicated in the face of the prescription with the signature of the pharmacist
    9. "Take as directed" or "Take as required" - not authorized since Direction of use must be specified
  • When there is a need for a longer duration of the therapy, the practitioner may prescribe for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days supply per prescription
  • Is it allowed for the doctor to prescribe DD/DD preps more than 30 days?
    Yes under extraordinary circumstances
  • Extraordinary circumstances

    • Clinically indicated, the prescribing physician may issue multi-month prescriptions, not exceeding thirty (30) days supply per prescription or a total of ninety (90) days supply for drugs in Schedule IV
  • When a special prescription is not available, an ordinary prescription can be used in an emergency case
  • Requirements for using an ordinary prescription in an emergency
    1. "Authorization for Emergency Dispensing," must be legibly written on the face of the prescription
    2. Limited to the quantity needed to treat the patient during the emergency period
    3. Inform PDEA in writing where the emergency occurred, copy furnished the pharmacy that supplied the drug within seven days (7)
