QUOTES- Good VS evil

Cards (3)

  • “…thy soul’s flight, if it find heaven, must find it out tonight” M soliloquy
-ANALYSIS: Macbeth doesn’t care whether Banquo goes to heaven or not, he just wants him dead.
-The rhyme makes him seem like he is chanting a form of curse. This could be a link to the supernatural.
  • “Glamis hath murdered sleep… Macbeth shall sleep no more.” M to LM
ANALYSIS: He refers to Duncan as sleep, connoting to peace and tranquility. Him murdering Duncan symbolises him losing his peace and tranquility, along with his sanity and sleep
  • “…what’s done is done.” LM to M
-ANALYSIS: Lady Macbeth wants Macbeth to move on as they cannot change their actions.
-‘done is done’ is a paradoxical phrase which could link to the fact that their actions will get them back in the future, and that fate (highly believed in during Jacobean England) cannot be changed.
-Lady Macbeth is seen as the evil one in this moment in time, as she overestimates her lack of guilt, Macbeth is the good one as although he committed regicide, LM pressured him to, and he is remorseful.
