  • "The raven himself is hoarse/The croak the fatal entrance of Duncan/Under my battlements"— raven,death, possessive pronouns, Reflects Lady Macbeth's position running her household but also the fact that this is her plan.
  • "Come to my woman's breasts,And take my milk for gall"— Poisonous,Vicious,transgressing stereotypes. Metaphor, possessive pronouns. This is symptomatic of her approach in the remainder of the play.
  • "Had he not resembled my father,as he spelt I had done it"— some element of humanity. Strange morals. Believes parricide is worse than regicide or infanticide. Juxtaposition in emotion about parricide+regicide. Is this the real reason?
  • "My hands are if your colour, but I shame to wear a heart so white"— Thinks purity and innocence is a weakness.Emasculating.Colour imagery.
  • "Out damn'd spot!" Droplets of blood of her hand, represents guilt. Exclamatory sentence and imperative and symbolism. She is losing sanity and trying to control her guilt but failing. Shakespeare wants to make an example of her and wants the audience not to commit regicide.
