Mandibular incisors

• Compared to maxillary incisors, mandibular incisors have a smaller mesiodistal dimension (less wide)
• The facial outline has a trapezoid shape with a rounded distoincisal angle
• The incisal edge of the central incisor is horizontal
• The incisal edge of the lateral incisor is tilted cervically at the distal side
• The cingulum is less developed
• The cingulum of the central incisor is centrally positioned
• The cingulum of the lateral incisor is deviated distally
• Proximally, the crown is more lingually inclined
• The proximal outline is triangular
• Proximally, the distal aspect has a shallower curved cervical line
• Incisal outline is a diamond shape and the incisal ridge is more lingually inclined
• The incisal ridge of the lateral incisor is tilted distally and lingually (as well as the whole tooth), allowing for it to follow the dental arch curvature
• The mandibular lateral incisor is slightly larger than the central incisor and has a longer root, rounder distoincisal angle, and a mesial side that is longer than the distal side
• The contact areas of the central incisor are at the same level
• The contact areas in lateral incisors are not at the same level as the distal contact area is slightly cervically placed
