• Mothers and Fathers are expected to play an equally important role in family life although they might have diffrent responsibilities
• the family often includes the extended family of parents, grandparents aunts ,uncles
• It's expected to celebrate festivals at home with family e.g eid al fitr
• sexual relationships should take place within marriage
• Divorce is allowed as a last resort. Couples should try and reconcile.

  A period of three months ( the iddah) of trying to be reconciled must be taken first.
• If divorce takes place , the wife receives the final part of her dowry and and should be treated well
• sex is considered an act of worship, holy and sacred and should therefore be taken place within marriage
• Contraceptives is acceptabe but if it harms the body then it isnt
• same sex relationships are not allowed (haram)
• The Quran suggest that men should have authority over women in some situations such as divorce.
• Imam roles are traditionally and usually taken up by men, but some sunni groups allow women to lead prayer
