• enzymes are special proteins, biological catalysts, break down molecules, they are specific to the substrate that fits them
• activity increases whe temperature increases until it denatures
• activity increases as pH increases until enzyme denatures
• enzymes create a enzyme substrate complex then the products
• starch turns iodine from orange to black
• sugar turns benedicts solution blue to organe
• protein turns from blue to purple
• lipids turns ethanol cloudy
• CP: add a drop of iodine to each dimple
• CP: start timer
• CP: in test tube add 2ml of starch, amylase and pH buffer solution
• CP: take 1 drop of mixture and repeat with different buffers
