• embryonic- differentiate into any type of cell, limited supply, ethical issues, rejection (different genome patients immune system may reject)
• adult- divide by mitosis, differentiate into blood cells, replace damaged cells, no rejection, virus transmitted, tumour development
• embryonic are extract from early embryos, grown in lab, stimulated to differentiate into the cells we want, given to patient to replace faulty ones
