    diseases that spread from person to person or animal and people. caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi. described as contagious or infectious diseases.

    diseases that cannot spread between people or animals and people. last a long time and get worse slowly.

    increase in chance of suffering from a communicable disease because their body is less likely to be able to defend itself against the pathogens.

    HIV would make a person more likely to catch communicable diseases because their body is less able to defend itself against pathogens.

    it could be affected by wether they have easy access to medicines to treat illness or access to things that would prevent them getting ill in the first place. such as healthy food, condoms

    things that are linked to an increase in the likelihood that a person will develop a certain disease during their lifetime.

    nationally, people from deprived areas are more likely to smoke - meaning non communicable diseases (lung diseases, lung cancer) are more common in these areas
