  Meiosis is a type of cell division that produces gametes (sex cells) with half the number of chromosomes as the parent cell.
• Crossing over: the exchange of fragments of homologous pairs of chromosomes.
• The orientation in Meiosis is random.
• The result of Meiosis is 4 haploid daughter cells.
• The protein that helps the process of crossing over is called the synaptonemal complex
• A non-egg product of oogenesis is called a polar body
• The number of chromosomes is halved in Meiosis I
