  • Volleyball basic rules
    • 6 players on each team, 3 in front and 3 in back
    • Maximum of 3 hits per side
    • Ball hitting a boundary line is "in"
    • Ball contact with any part of a player's body is legal
    • Catching, holding, or throwing the ball is illegal
    • If two or more players contact the ball at the same time, it is considered one play and either player involved may make the next contact
    • After the serve, front line players may switch positions at the net

    • Stepping on or across the service line when serving
    • Failure to serve the ball over the net successfully
    • Contacting the ball illegally (lifting, carrying, throwing, etc.)

  • How to play volleyball
