  • Communicative Strategies
    These are the strategies used to start and maintain a conversation (Cohen, 1990).
  • Communicative Strategies
    These are effective ways done to communicate thoughts effectively to survive inadequacies in communication.
  • There are seven (7) strategies in communication: Nomination, Restriction, Turn taking, Topic Control, Topic Shifting, Repair, Termination.
  • Nomination
    A strategy that is used to introduce a topic at the beginning of a communicative situation.

    A strategy that shows the process when people decide who takes the conversational floor.

    A strategy that pertains to how the speaker addresses the problems in speaking, listening, and comprehending in a conversation.

    A strategy that uses both verbal and nonverbal signals to end the interaction.

    A strategy that constraints or restricts the response of the other person involved in the communicative situation.

    A strategy that involves moving from one topic to another.
