  • ethos appeals to ethics and morals. uses a speaker's credibility and authority as a way of persuasion
  • pathos appeals to emotions. uses feeling, tone and colors that make people moved to the action
  • logos uses information and data. Logical appeal to reason and uses concrete evidence as persuasion

    • King Lear has a love game for his daughters but Cordelia refuses and gets banished. Kent gets banished also. She marries the king of france
    • Edmund plots to betray edgar and tricks Gloucester
    • Goneril gets angry at Lear and his knights. SHe orders Oswald  to treat Lear coldly
    • Kent returns in a disguise, GOneril is mean to Learn so he leaves for Regan’s
    • Kent is sent to Regan’s with a letter
  • ACT 2
    • Edmund was blamed then made Gloucester send his servants looking for him. Cornwall and Regan befriended edmund
    -Disguised Kent assaults Oswald. Cornwall banishes him to the stocks, Gloucester disagrees
    -Kent sleeps at the stocks with a letter in his hand. Edgar disguises himself as poor 
    -Lear arrives at Gloucester’s castle and is enraged to see Kent in the stocks. Regan and -Cornwall refuse to speak with him and run to the forest furiously.
  • ACT 3
    -Kent hands a knight a ring and a letter to bring to dover.
    -Lear is so enraged by his daughters during the stormy weather. The fool makes a prophecy about chaos soon.
    -Gloucester expressed his dissatisfaction that Lear received by his daughters. He told Edmund about the French army slowly invading england. Then entrusted Edmund with a letter.
    -Lear and Fool encountered a beggar, who was Edgar. He sympathizes with him. Gloucester forces Lear to come back to the castle
    -Edmund granted title, “Earl of Gloucester” by Cornwall
  • Continuation of ACT 3
    -Kent, Gloucester and Lear find shelter and hold a mock trial of his daughters.
    -Goneril receives the news that the French army is invading England soon. Albany looks for Gloucester and sends Edmund to go with Goneril to his palace. Gloucester suffers and ends up with no eyes.
  • ACT 4
    -Edgar realizes that his father is blind. He pretends to be a gentleman. Gloucester reminisces about his son, Edgar. They both head to dover.
    -Goneril hears about Albany’s displeasure by how Regan and her treated Lear and is glad to hear the French army landed. Both of them fought, calling each other names.
    -The gentleman told Kent Cordelia’s displeased reaction about her father’s mistreatment. Lear has arrived in Dover and Albany and Cornwall’s men are marching, prepared to fight off the French troops.
  • Continuation of ACT 4
    -Lear descended into insanity, creating a crown out of weeds and flowers singing madly to himself.
    -Both Goneril and Regan want Edmund for themselves. Oswald receives a token/letter to give to Edmund and given a reward if he was able to kill Gloucester.
    -Poor Tom pretends to lead his father off a cliff. Oswald is killed by Poor Tom and gets his letter. -Lear enters with a weed crown
    Lear is in the camp with his daughter, Cordelia. The 2 are reunited
  • ACT 5
    -Poor Tom gives Goneril’s letter to Albany, warning him of Goneril's plan to kill him. Edmund reflects on his possible marriage to Goneril and Regan
    -Cordelia’s french army is defeated
     - Lear and Cordelia are sent to prison. Goneril poisons Regan then kills herself. Edgar battles Edmund and reveals that he’s edgar. He defeats and kills Edmund and reveals Gloucester died of relief/happiness. They race to help Cordelia and Lear, but it's too late and Cordelia has died. Lear follows her in death, leaving Edgar, Kent, Albany to rule.
