• What are the general criticisms of sociological theories?

  Underlying cause - sociologist disagree - functionalists and Marxists see structural factors as a cause of crime and labellists see it as an interaction between people

  over - prediction - everyone who is in working class commits crime

  biological and physiological factors - neglect factors which explain why one individual commits crime while someone in the same societal position does not
