Cards (4)

  • Process for photosynthesis practical.
    1. Take boiling tube and place it 10 cm away from an LED light.
    2. Fill boiling tube with sodium hydrogen carbonate solution releasing co2 needed for photosynthesis.
    3. Place pondweed into the boiling tube with the cut end at the top.
    4. Leave for five minutes allowing the pondweed to adapt to the conditions in the boiling tube.
  • Process for photosynthesis practical.
    1. Start stopwatch and count number of bubble produced in one minute.
    2. Repeat twice more to allow us to generate a mean amount of bubble produced.
  • Why do we use an LED light?
Because it doesn't release as much heat. Too much heat changes the temperature of the experiment which messes with the rate of photosynthesis.
  • If we double the distance the mean bubbles falls by a factor of 4. This is known as the inverse square law.
