• ETEC - Entero toxigenic E. coli
• ETEC - produces heat labile and heat stable toxins
• Heat labile is A Cholera-like toxin
• Heat stable - capable of integrates intestinal fluids and causing the activation of GUANYLATE CYCLASE
• Guanylate cyclase can induce profuse diarrhea
• Heat labile can only inhibit fever
• EPEC - causes infantile diarrhoea, watery stools with no blood or mucus
• EPEC - attaches to epithelial cells by fimbriae (pili)
• EHEC - Shiga Toxin producing E.coli (STEC) that cause bloody diarrhoea
• EIEC - enteropathogenic E.coli that causes dysentery
• EIEC - causes inflammation of the intestine
• EPEC - Enteropathogenic eschirichia coli
