Light

• Light refers to the electromagnetic radiation of any wavelength whether visible or not.
• There are two types of receptors in the retina of your eyes. The cones can detect colors. They work when the light is bright. The rods can detect only black, white, and gray. They work only when the light is very dim.
• Mixing of colored light is called additive mixing.
• Mixing paints or inks is called subtractive mixing.
• Polychromatic light is a mixture of all the colors in the spectrum, forming a white light.
• Monochromatic light contains only one color. Examples of this is a laser.
