  • Continuity
    It occurs when the eye is compelled to move through one object and continue to another object. This is used in typography based logos.
  • Similarity
    It occurs when object look similar to one another. The viewer will perceive them as a group or pattern. These can be similarities in color, shape, texture, orientation, or font and any other design element.
  • Closure
    It occurs when an element is incomplete or a space is not totally enclosed. When there is an incomplete or fragmented image, human brain tend to fill in the missing parts to perceive a complete whole.
  • Proximity
    It occurs when objects that are close to each other are perceived as belonging together. The position of these elements help to portray a relationship between the separate parts.
  • Symmetry and Order
    It occurs when elements that are symmetrical to each other tend to be perceived as a unified group. Several symmetries can occur in one design.
  • Figure and Ground

    This principle describe how our perception tends to separate the elements of a scene into a Figure, which is the object of focus and a Ground, which is the background against which the figure stands.
