February revolution

• 23rd February 1917 thousands of women were m arching for women's say and workers joined them causing the government to loose control of the capital
• on the 2nd march Nicholas agreed to abdicate
• long term causes:

  • Tsar had absolute power even after October manifesto
  • poor living and working conditions
  • peasants wanted more land and money for grain
  • Nicholas appeared weak and indecisive
