  • Social Relationship- refer to the connections that exist between people who have recurring interactions that are perceived by the participants to have personal meaning
  • The family is widely known as the basic unit of the society
  • According to Burgess and Locke, 'Family is a group of persons united by the ties of marriage, blood or adoption; consisting a single household, interacting and intercommunicating with each other in their social roles of husband and wife, mother and father, son and daughter, brother and sister creating a common culture.
  • COMMON TYPES OF FAMILY STRUCTURE
    Nuclear Family - it is considered as "traditional Family". It consist of a mother, father and an independent children.
    Extended Family- This is also known as the three generation family. Consisting of grandparents, their children and their grandchildren.
    Blended/Step Family - A family that consist of members from two (or more) previous families.
    Single Parent Family- A family that consist of only 1 parent (either father/mother) raising his/her children.
    LGBTQ Family- A family where one or both of the parents' sexual orientation is gay or lesbian.
  • Family Legacy- A legacy is something that is passed on to you from family, including reputation; a heritage. An example of legacy is family property that has been handed down for generations.

  • EMOTIONAL LEGACY-- In order to prosper, our children need an enduring sense of security and stability nurtured in an environment of safety and love
