    women have been stripped not only of
    their garments but also of their dignity.

  • Juan Luna Y Novicio- Was a Filipino painter, sculptor, and a political activist of the Philippine Revolution during
    the late 19th century. His Spolarium won the gold medal in the 1884 Madrid Ex- position of Fine Arts.
  • Spolarium- The picture recreates a despoiling scene in a Roman circus where dead gladiators are stripped of weapons and garments.
