Crucifixion

• • Brought Jesus to Golgotha ( “the place of the skull”).​
• • Offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it
• • 9 in the morning
• • Centred between 2 thieves
• • Those who passed by hurled insults at him
• • Darkness came over the whole land noon until three in the afternoon
• • At 3pm, Jesus cried loudly “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” (meaning “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”). ​
• • Someone filled a sponge with wine vinegar, put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink. “Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to take him down,”
• • With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last – he said ‘It is finished’ 
• • Curtain of temple was torn in two from top to bottom
• • The centurion  said, “Surely this man was the Son of God!”​
• • Women were watching from a distance. Among them: Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome.​
