    A behaviour which is against God's laws and wishes, against the Christian principles of morality

    The forgiving of sin (in particular original sin) through the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ

    • Entered the world because of Adam and Eve and their disobedience leading them to eat from the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden
    • Resulted in disharmony between heaven and earth meaning humans today are born with Original sin and so they commit sin (St Augustine's view)

    Can remove and cleanse original sin (St Augustine's view)
  • Christians believe they are saved from sin by the crucifixion of Jesus which is an act of atonement

    • Breaking one of the 10 commandments e.g. thou shall not kill
  • St Paul teaches that all humans are sinful and therefore need to repent for their sins and to do this they must believe in Jesus 'all have sinned and all fall short of the glory of God'
